Openings

One of the most anticipated openings of the fall is finally here. Jonathan Benno, former chef de cuisine at Per Se, has fired up the burners at his Lincoln Center restaurant Lincoln. The menu features market-driven ingredients for Italian-accented dishes. Lincoln, 142 W. 65th St., New York, NY 10023, 212-359-6500.
 
Maritime Parc, the three-story, 30,000-square-foot food complex across the Hudson River in Liberty State Park, has at last opened. Chef Chris Siversen cooks up seafood and American fare. Maritime Parc, Liberty State Park, 84 Audrey Zapp Dr., Jersey City, NJ 07305, 201-413-0050.
 
An Upper West Side outpost of the Atlantic Grill has opened. This one, at Lincoln Center, will boast a 12-seat sushi bar, as well as a menu offering many fruits of the sea. Chris Lim will oversee the kitchen. Atlantic Grill at Lincoln Center, 49 W. 64 St. , New York, NY 10023, 212-787-4663.
 
Freemans owners Taavo Somer and William Tigertt have opened Peels, located in the developing Bowery section of the East Village. The interior is decked out in Victorian flair. Peels, 325 Bowery, New York, NY 10003, 646-602-7015.
 
Eataly, an artisanal Italian food store, has finally swung open its doors across from Madison Square Park on Fifth Avenue. The market houses several restaurants, a beer garden and a café. News Bytes
Tabla to Close at End of Year
Tabla, the acclaimed Indian restaurant, has announced it will shutter for good on December 30. Chef Floyd Cardoz will stay on with Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group where he'll work on developing a new restaurant. Tabla, 11 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10010, 212-889-0667.
 
The Leopard in (late) Winter
It has just been announced that the once-famed, now-closed Café des Artistes will reopen in March 2011 with a new name: Leopard at Café des Artistes. No word yet on further changes. Leopard at CafĂ© des Artistes, 1 W. 67th St., New York, NY 10023, no phone available yet.
 
Tramezzini Afternoon
A Voce Columbus will now offer tramezzini---sandwiches, usually with the crust cut off---from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily at the bar. A Voce Columbus, Time Warner Center, 10 Columbus Cir., Third Floor, New York, NY 10023, 212-823-2523.
 
Meat Starr
Stephen Starr, star of the Philadelphia restaurant scene and owner of New York's Morimoto and Buddakan, plans to open a meat-centric restaurant in the West Village (on Bank Street near Greenwich Avenue). Other details are scant at the moment.
 
Cart on the Green
Whatever happened to Tavern on the Green, you wonder? It's now a food cart. Sort of. Beginning October 15, New York restaurants Rickshaw Dumpling, Ladle of Love, and Pera Mediterranean Brasserie will be serving food on the now-shuttered restaurant's terrace (Central Park W., New York).
 
Eleven Goes to Four or Five
Daniel Humm, Danny Meyer and company are shaking things up at acclaimed Eleven Madison Park. The multi-course fixed-price menu has been truncated to either a three- or four-course lunch or four- or five-course dinner menu. Eleven Madison Park, 11 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10010, 212-889-0905.
 
Vegetarian Menu Debuts at Scarpetta
Scott Conant has introduced a vegetarian menu at his Meatpacking District restaurant Scarpetta. Dishes like caramelized fennel, purée of pea soup, and tagliatelle with shaved truffles are now available. Scarpetta , 355 W. 14th St., New York, NY 10014, 212-691-0555.
 

Chef Shuffle
Ryan Skeen has been named the chef of Michael Psilakis' soon-to-open restaurant, Fish Tag.
 
Amanda Freitag has hung up her toque at The Harrison. Jimmy Bradley will be her replacement. The Harrison, 355 Greenwich St., New York, NY 10013, 212-274-9310.
 


Closings

The Midtown Greek eatery Anthos has closed. It will become a steakhouse after renovations. Anthos, 36 W. 52nd St., New York, NY 10019, no phone.
 
Kinski, the Central European-accented eatery on the Lower East Side, has shut down.
 
The new East Village eatery Novello Cafe has already shut down.
 
Ruben's Empanadas, the East Village stalwart for late-night snacking, has shut down.
 
Cube 63, the Lower East Side sushi spot (and BYOB), has shut down.
 
The Financial District restaurant and pub Bear & Bull (not to be confused with the Midtown restaurant of similar name) has closed.
