Openings

Lower East Side Chinese restaurant Yunnan Kitchen has become Yunnan BBQ. As the name suggests, the spot serves up Chinese-flavored barbecue meats. Yunnan BBQ, 79 Clinton St., New York, NY 10002, 212-253-2527.
 
In the space that formerly housed SD26 on Madison Square Park is now Black Barn, a farm-to-table spot with a slight Italian accent serving heirloom beet risotto, grilled swordfish and Amish chicken. Black Barn, 19 E. 26th St., New York, NY 10010, 212-265-5959.
 
Rocco Steakhouse is helmed in the kitchen by Johnny Jevric, a veteran of Wolfgang's. In addition to steak, the restaurant offers a chilled seafood tower, crab cakes, salads and a classic burger. Rocco Steakhouse, 72 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10016, 212-696-9660.
 
UrbanSpace Vanderbilt food hall features several tempting kiosks. Amali Mou, Delaney Chicken, Roberta's and Ovenly are but a few of the food options at this spot located near Grand Central Terminal. UrbanSpace Vanderbilt, 230 Park Ave., New York, NY 10169, 212-529-9262.
 
Mimime and fries from Fuku+ David Chang's second location of Fuku, the hot chicken sandwich spot, is actually Fuku+, the plus sign indicating it has an expanded menu. In addition to the amazing fried chicken sandwich, there are chicken fingers, salads, salt and pepper shrimp, and Sichuan pork flatbread. News Bytes
Bourdain Market Has a Home
Anthony Bourdain's much buzzed about future food hall, named Bourdain Market for now, has a home: Pier 57, at W. 15th St. and the Westside Highway. The huge venue will boast more than 100 food retailers, everything from Singapore hawker market fare to a spot by Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig and The Breslin Bar & Dining Room fame. Noma New York?
Claus Meyer, the restaurateur behind acclaimed Noma in Copenhagen, is coming to New York. He's opening up a Scandinavian food hall and a 100-seat restaurant in Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal. The chef is Icelandic culinary star Gunnar Gislason. The restaurant and food hall are slated to open sometime in early 2016.
 
Jean-Georges Vongerichten is opening a casual seafood restaurant Jean-Georges' South Street Seaport Project
Long the subject of rumors, Jean-Georges Vongerichten is opening a casual seafood restaurant in the South Street Seaport (Pier 17). Next to the restaurant will be a 40,000-square-foot seafood market. The restaurant and market are slated to open sometime in 2017.
 
Tastes Like Teen Spirit
The 16-year-old kitchen wunderkind Flynn McGarry is doing a three-day-per-week pop-up at a private kitchen in the West Village. It began on September 12 and will reportedly last for eight months. The 14-course tasting menu costs $160, plus $80 more if you want wine pairing. Make reservations at Eureka's website.
 

Chef Shuffle
SoHo restaurant White Street has a new chef: Jason Lawless has come on board and has revamped the menu and reduced prices a bit. White Street, 221 W. Broadway, New York, NY 10013, 212-944-8378.
 
Chef David Burke, who has his own small empire of restaurants, has joined ESquared Hospitality, which runs the BLT restaurants. Chef Burke's chief task will be to develop new projects for the group.
 
Matteo Boglione is the new chef at Le Cirque Matteo Boglione is the new chef at Le Cirque. Boglione has worked at Le Cirque in Mumbai and Bangalore and previously had been the chef at Il Matto in TriBeCa. Le Cirque, One Beacon Court, 151 E. 58th St., New York, NY 10022, 212-644-0202.
 


Closings

Wylie Dufresne's Alder shut down at the end of August 2015. The chef didn't give a reason for the closure, though we suspect it might have to do with a rent increase. But he has said he will be on the lookout for a new location. Alder, 157 Second Ave., New York, NY 10003, no phone.
 
Do or Dine, the cutting-edge eatery in Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy, has abruptly shut down. There's no indication if the restaurant will open up at another location. Do or Dine, 1108 Bedford Ave., New York, NY 11216, no phone.
