Openings

Indie filmmaker Ron Brown has opened Barboncino in this up-and-coming section of Brooklyn's Prospect Heights. The menu is classic and seasonal Italian with an emphasis on Neapolitan pizzas. Barboncino, 781 Franklin Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11238, 718-483-8834.
 
On bustling Sixth Avenue in the West Village comes Onegin, a Russian-themed restaurant that is decidedly posh in appearance. Crystal chandeliers highlight the 122-seat dining room. The Smith Midtown is an outpost of the popular East Village restaurant. With a similar 'American brasserie' concept to the original, the new restaurant will feature pasta, sandwiches and seafood dishes. The Smith Midtown, 956 Second Ave., New York, NY 10022, 212-644-2700.
 
Talented "Top Chef" alum Hung Huynh is the chef at Catch, a new seafood-centric eatery in the Meatpacking District. The menu features small plates, whole fish and sushi. Catch, 91 Ninth Ave., New York, NY 10014, 212-392-5978.
 
Joël Robuchon is an advisor to Kibo, a new Japanese-inflected restaurant in Gramercy Park. Darrell Raymond, formerly of Buddakan, is in the kitchen. The menu will include sushi, grilled meats and soba noodles. Kibo, 111 E. 18th St., New York, NY 10003, 212-824-2770.

Cooking with Jean-Georges
Have you ever wanted to cook with Jean-Georges Vongerichten? Now is your chance. For $9,999, "students" get a one-hour demonstration by Jean-Georges himself (at his namesake restaurant) and a one-hour lesson with executive pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini. Danny Meyer has confirmed that he intends to Eleven Madison Park Eleven Madison Park Sale
Danny Meyer has confirmed that he intends to sell Eleven Madison Park, one of the jewels in his restaurant empire crown. But it's not going far: chef Daniel Humm and manager Will Guidara are expected to buy the place. The deal should be completed by the end of the year. Chef Shuffle

Closings

Sette Enoteca e Cucina, the Italian restaurant on Seventh Avenue in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood, has shut down. Sette Enoteca e Cucina, 207 Seventh Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11215, no phone.
