Pizza man Roberto Caporuscio, of Don Antonio by Starita and Keste Pizza & Vino, and his daughter Giorgia will open a pizza school and restaurant at 77 Fulton St. in the South Street Seaport. Professionals, amateurs and children can learn the art of pizza-making and feast on pizza and other Italian eats. The place does not yet have a name, and is slated to debut in October 2016.
 
A steakhouse chain born in Dallas, Bob’s Steak & Chop House is set to open in Midtown’s Omni Berkshire Place November 1, 2016. It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant prides itself on offering "big drinks, fine wines and large cuts of the finest prime steaks, chops and seafood." Samui serves modern Thai cuisine by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Samui serves modern Thai cuisine by the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A defunct garage was reborn as this brightly colored 109-seat restaurant, run by chef A Napadol and her husband. OCA Positive Food has opened in SoHo offering Brazilian tapioca crêpes. When Brazilian buddies couldn't find their favorite comfort food, tapioca crêpes, in NYC, they decided to make their own. They're gluten-free and organic. OCA, 250 Mott St., New York, NY 10012, 407-712-4433.
 
Silvia Barban has teamed up with the owners of AITA and The Mayflower in Clinton Hill to open LaRina Pastificio e Vino, a temple to all things pasta. ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina will be joined by abcV, a long-awaited vegetarian concept from chef/restaurateur Jean-Georges Vongerichten. abcV, 38 E. 19th St., New York, NY 10003, no phone.
 
Casey Lane (The Tasting Kitchen, Venice, California) is behind Casa Apicii, located in a 19th-century townhouse. Adam Nadel is the executive chef of the Greenwich Village restaurant and the menu offers seasonal Italian fare. Casa Apicii, 62 W. 9th St., New York, NY 10011, 212-353-8400.
 
Chumley's, the historic (and former) speakeasy pub in the West Village that shut down nearly a decade ago for infrastructure reasons, is back. Restaurateur Alessandro Borgognone of Sushi Nakazawa and chef Victoria Blamey will serve creative takes on classic cocktails and upscale bar food, like a burger with bone marrow and beef tartare with hazelnuts. The second Big Apple location of Eataly, situated on the third floor of World Trade Center Tower 4, opened its doors on August 11, 2016. The Italian marketplace includes a bakery, Osteria della Pace (separate dining room inspired by the cuisine of Southern Italy), juice bar, mozzarella bar, fresh pasta counter and more. Jean-Georges Summertime Hot Dogs at The Mark
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is operating a hot dog cart outside of The Mark hotel through the end of September 2016. The culinary world mourns the passing of chef/restaurateur Michel Richard A Tribute to Michel Richard
The culinary world mourns the passing of chef/restaurateur Michel Richard, who died August 13, 2016, at the age of 68. In New York, he briefly operated the since-shuttered Villard Michel Richard. Read André Gayot’s tribute.
