Executive chef Mark Piepkorn oversees a California-inspired progressive contemporary fare marked by an adventurous streak. Guests can expect to see dishes including roasted squash with goat’s milk yogurt, chicory and béarnaise ice cream; savory lava cake with smoked alligator, parsnip silk and duck heart sprinkles; and vintage beef rib-eye with potato trifle and blue cheese. It is the brainchild of chef Imran Ali Mookhi, who previously honed his craft at such Southern California establishments as Tantra on Sunset, Tamarind of London, and Tumbi. Guests can explore a mélange of elevated dishes from India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. In keeping with halal tradition, the restaurant will refrain from serving alcoholic beverages but will offer a wide array of carefully created mocktails. Khan Saab, 229 E. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832, 714-853-1081.   News Bytes Return of Masters of Taste on April 5 Masters of Taste outdoor food and beverage festival will return to the Rose Bowl Stadium at 4 p.m. (3 p.m. start for VIP ticketholders). Enjoy fare from chefs and restaurants, including host chef Vanda Asapahu (Ayara Thai Cuisine), along with cocktails and tastings from bars, wineries and local craft breweries. Early bird pricing is $89 for general admission and $149 for VIP admission. Proceeds will benefit Union Station Homeless Services. The shuttering coincides with the closing of the chain restaurant’s eight other Los Angeles County-based locations. The Japanese-American venue had built a dedicated following by offering a menu stocked with various curries and other options such as spaghetti and meatballs.
