The collective behind the popular Orange restaurant Haven Gastropub has opened a new bottle shop concept called Provisions. Located at the north end of the Orange Circle, and within walking distance of Haven, the venue features more than 200 bottled craft beers, a rotation of 30 beers on tap, wine for retail purchase and in-house imbibing, and a selection of cheeses, charcuterie, fresh breads, deli sandwiches, and various prepared bits like deviled eggs. Din Tai Fung, the Los Angeles-area restaurant that has built a cult following around its Shanghai-style soup dumplings, is coming to Orange County. The highly popular restaurant, which has two venues in the L.A. suburb of Arcadia, as well as a location in Seattle, is slated to move into an 8,000-square-foot space in South Coast Plaza in spring 2014. Diego’s Downtown is the latest eatery to pop up in the increasingly hip downtown Santa Ana food scene.  Executive chef and Santa Ana native Richard Espinachio has created a menu that blends traditional Mexican cuisine with contemporary culinary twists, including cactus salad with Oaxaca cheese; hangar steak tacos; and short ribs prepared in a tamarind and chili glaze. Pie Society, the much-anticipated speakeasy concept located in the back of Costa Mesa’s Pitfire Artisan Pizza, has opened. The cozy, wood-paneled venue features a tidy list of small bites created by chef Jason Neroni of the Venice Beach restaurant Superba Snack Bar, as well as handcrafted cocktails created by popular OC mixologist Steve Garcia. Thursday Nite Out Summer Series at Tangata
Tangata, Joachim Splichal’s culinary concept located within Santa Ana’s Bowers Museum, will be featuring a special summertime dinner service dubbed Thursday Nite Out. From 5 p.m.-8 p.m., the venue will be rolling out a special al fresco dining experience featuring tapas, chef-prepared picnic baskets featuring sandwiches and salads, and live music emanating from the museum courtyard. Select tapas include pan-seared hanger steak with chimichurri sauce; ahi tuna “poke” with ponzu dashi sauce; and grilled chorizo with a piquillo pepper coulis. Wine Country Brunch at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is rolling out a Wine Country Brunch on Sundays. The restaurant, located in Newport Beach’s Fashion Island, offers a family-friendly à la carte brunch menu ranging from light, healthy fare to more indulgent, heartier dishes. Select menu items include filet mignon eggs Benedict with wilted arugula and béarnaise sauce; pan-crisped pork belly and poached egg served over creamy grits; and a blue crab omelet with Gruyère cheese, wilted spinach and seasonal mushroom. Chef Shuffle

Travis Flood is no longer the executive chef at LANDMARK. He has left to open up a new concept in the Los Angeles County suburb of Laverne called Pappas Artisanal Restaurant, which is slated to open in July. Britta’s Café, one of the pioneers of Orange County’s burgeoning farm-to-table movement, is closing at the end of June. The venue is shuttering, as Britta Pulliam, the Irvine restaurant’s eponymous chef/owner, is retiring after running the venue for 26 years.
