Openings

The third outpost of Arancino, a Napoli-style restaurant, opened at The Kahala Hotel & Resort on June 18. The venue introduces a new Italian dining concept that offers guests different ways to create their five-course dinner. The menu showcases dishes using imported Italian ingredients as well as fresh local products. In addition, Arancino offers about 100 different wines from Italy and the Pacific Rim in a wine list designed by Shinya Tasaki, the winner of the World's Best Sommelier Award in 1995. Chef Shuffles

Owner/chef George Mavrothalassitis has named Elizabeth Dippong as pastry chef of his Chef Mavro restaurant. Most recently, Dippong was the lead baker at The Modern Honolulu. Dippong is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Baking and Pastry Arts and has worked in San Francisco at Hawthorne Lane, Bi-Rite Creamery & Bakeshop, Boulevard and The Plant Café Organic.
