Boston Chops is a venture of chef Christopher Coombs Boston Chops is a venture of chef Christopher Coombs of dbar and Deuxave Restaurant & Bar fame. A step inside the cozy South End steakhouse reveals massive ceilings, a 2,000-bottle wine room and reclaimed-wood bar. The raw bar offerings are worth consideration, especially the fresh oysters (available by the half or full dozen) and shrimp cocktail served by the piece. Adventurous diners should check out the "rarely celebrated" selections, which include everything from roasted bone marrow to brined, braised and grilled tongue. Or stick to the à la carte steaks like the 22-ounce massive bone-in rib-eye, 14-ounce juicy Prime New York strip, or the 14-ounce bone-in filet with chimichurri butter or creamy horseradish sauce (all sauces are made in-house). The Italian restaurant, MC Medici Ristorante & Bar, will be taking over the former space of 606 Congress in the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel and is slated for a fall opening. Brought to you by the duo behind Arrows Restaurant and MC Perkins Cove in Maine, this is the first Massachusetts venture for Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier. L’Espalier Hosts Kenyan Tea Tasting on July 21

Outside the Box Boston Food Festival at City Hall Plaza
The Outside the Box Boston Food Festival on City Hall Plaza from July 18 through 21 will celebrate food, music, theater and dance. The four-day event features more than 200 performers, from the Boston Ballet to the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, alongside chefs like Ming Tsai and Todd English. Entrance is complimentary but tasting tickets are $1 each. (Chefs will determine the cost of each of their dishes ranging from one to five tickets). Chef Shuffle

Turner Fisheries Restaurant & Bar has promoted sous chef Jason Bautista to chef de cuisine. He plans to change the menu to include a Latin-inspired flair with dishes like mussels with Spanish chorizo, zucchini gazpacho and a carved jerk chicken sandwich with mango slaw.
