Openings

The renowned restaurant brand Bagatelle opened its Bagatelle Beach Las Vegas Cinco de Mayo weekend. Located at the Tropicana Las Vegas hotel, the St. Tropez-inspired pool club features two pools, cabanas, Mediterranean-style dining, live music, DJs and bottle service. Executive chef John Zamarchi has crafted a menu of poolside cuisine that includes fresh snapper ceviche, barbecued chicken flatbread, hangover helper (bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant), Thai steak salad and blackened mahi mahi tacos. Open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Las Vegas Bagatelle Beach joins its sister properties in Los Angeles, St. Barth’s, Sao Paulo and New York City. Burger Bistro has opened at the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (LVH), offering six different burger types including Angus beef, California lamb, yellowtail tuna, turkey breast, lump and black fin crab, and kosher vegetarian. Among toppings are baked Brie with double-smoked bacon, Barolo-braised short ribs and foie gras terrine with sweet apples. There's also a selection of 30 craft beers. Bonefish Grill has opened its newest location at Town Square near the Las Vegas Boulevard and Sunset Street entrance. The restaurant space incorporates an open kitchen, large bar, golden hardwoods, hand-blown glass lighting with Gyotaku fish rubbing prints and 3D metal art. The menu features wood-grilled specialties, a variety of market-fresh fish and seafood, and non-seafood items such as USDA Choice filet mignon, chicken marsala and a pork chop with Fontina. Signature appetizers include ahi tuna sashimi, PEI mussels Josephine and "bang bang" shrimp. Bonefish Grill is open nightly for dinner, serves lunch on Saturdays, and brunch on Sundays. The Cooking Experience by Mise En Place has opened, offering a variety of classes and culinary experiences. Resident chefs Cody Hinckley and Dave Lachowski typically instruct; periodically, special classes are taught by renowned chefs. Classes vary from a quick 60-minute demo for $25 to a two-hour-plus gourmet class for $100. The recipes and themes change daily. Central Michel Richard Opens Revamped Patio for Outdoor Dining
Central Michel Richard at Caesars Palace has opened its new French garden-inspired patio, allowing for al fresco dining amid views of the Vegas Strip. The entrance is adjacent to the hotel’s lobby and the space features bright green accents, pub-style tables, white lounge furniture, oversized umbrellas and shaded dining areas. The Cosmopolitan Serving Bubbles & Brunch on Weekends
Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Bubbles & Brunch will be served at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas’s indoor/outdoor Overlook Grill, above the Boulevard Pool deck on the roof of The Cosmopolitan. Roving waiters stop at each table to serve brunch items, which will change weekly, such as Maine lobster and hearts of palm salad, pan-steamed pork gyoza, asparagus panna cotta, blue crab Benedict and stuffed French toast. In addition, handcrafted bloody Marys, margaritas and mimosas will be prepared tableside. The cost is $40, which includes all brunch items and one glass of champagne, mimosa or a Bloody Mary. Sensi Features Inspired by Chef Royden Ellamar’s "Chopped" Victory
Executive chef Royden Ellamar of Sensi at Bellagio recently became a "Chopped" champion, appearing on a recent episode of the Food Network’s cooking competition show. Chef Ellamar is now offering guests of Sensi the opportunity to taste the dishes he created on the show through a three-course menu. Priced at $60, the dishes include exotic and unusual ingredients that Ellamar found in his mystery baskets, including pigs feet in a jar, tres leches cake, jicama, cilantro, goat chops, tequila, churros, huitlacoche (a fungus that grows on corn), coconut, pepitas, piloncillo and yucca. Half-Priced Drafts at Public House During 2013 NFL Draft
Public House at Luxor Hotel & Casino will host a Draft Day Party for the 2013 NFL Draft on April 25, featuring half-priced draft beers. Restaurant Guy Savoy Introduces Cognac Lounge Offering Rare Cognacs
Restaurant Guy Savoy inside Caesars Palace has introduced Las Vegas’ first cognac lounge and master-crafted cognac menu. The lounge is adorned with an array of elite cognac bottles and rare cognacs, some of which can only be found at the Cognac Lounge, including: Perfection by Hardy --- world’s oldest unblended cognac derived from 100 percent French Colombard grapes and aged 140 years --- Hennessy Ellipse, a blend of the best vintages for seven generations; and Hine Talent, which is stored in hand-etched Baccarat crystal, bottled in 1990 to celebrate the bicentennial of the family’s arrival in France. Paul Lee has been elevated to the executive chef position at Le Cirque at Bellagio. Lee is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, California and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at California State Fullerton. He served previously as executive sous chef at Le Cirque and as sous chef at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in New York City. The upstairs fine dining portion of Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood at Mandalay Bay will close May 3 for a remodel and rebranding, and will reopen in late June. The new concept will be named RX Boiler Room, a steampunk-inspired restaurant and lounge, with décor reminiscent of industrialism during the 19th-century Victorian era, and redefined comfort food classics and handcrafted cocktails. The downstairs casual dining RM Seafood venue will remain open during the remodel. Michael Mina’s Nobhill Tavern at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino closed March 30th. The restaurant had been open for 12 years. Rumors have it Mina will not be involved in its replacement, as he is concentrating on his Pub 1842 concept at the MGM Grand, in the former space of the shuttered SeaBlue. A closing date of July 14, 2013, has been set for Valentino at The Venetian, which will end the 14-year residency of award-winning chef Luciano Pellegrini. Although no official announcement from The Venetian has yet been made on what restaurant will take Valentino’s place, Valentino owner Piero Selvaggio said The Venetian decided not to renew his lease this summer.
