Eric Rohleder, founder and president of Cordial Fine Wine, is opening his first wine shop, called Cordial Fine Wine & Spirits, on February 1. A boutique store, it will offer 216 small production artisanal wines and 35 craft beers from around the world: Oregon, Washington, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa, South America and Eastern Europe. Calling All Capitals Fans!
José Andrés and his culinary team are crafting special menus for hockey lovers to enjoy before heading to the Verizon Center. Jaleo DC will offer Caps fans sangría by the glass, house red wine and patatas bravas for just $5 each. These specials are available exclusively in the 30-seat bar from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. with home games. Indulge in White Truffles at Fiola
Fiola is celebrating its 2nd Annual White Truffle Festival (while supplies last). The restaurant is offering customers white truffles at cost, with no markups, priced according to size. Just like at the white truffle markets in Italy, diners can choose their own white truffle from the daily selection to be shaved tableside on specific truffle-friendly dishes served for the occasion, like sunny-side up eggs, tagliatelle and risotto Parmigiana, or items from the regular menu that are also "truffle friendly." Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week
During Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week, held February 4-10, diners can order specially priced three-course menus from more than 200 DC restaurants. Beverages, tax and gratuity are not included. For more information, visit www.ramw.org.
 
Chefs Ball at Art and Soul to Celebrate Inauguration
Chef Art Smith is opening his Art and Soul restaurant in The Liaison Capitol Hill on January 19th for a late-night Chefs Ball to celebrate President Obama's inauguration. Executive chef Wes Morton will co-chair the Chefs Ball with Smith, and their donations will benefit Common Threads, a non-profit organization co-founded by Smith and his partner, Jesus Salgueiro, to help low-income children understand the importance of nutrition and physical well being. Five additional D.C. chefs will prepare late-night bites for the event and proceeds will benefit their charities of choice. Cost of the ticket: $75. Event starts at 11 p.m. for the public.
