Matchbox Food Group is opening up along the 14th St. corridor at the corner of 14th and T Sts. NW, in the Logan Circle area. The group is renovating the turn-of-the-century building that once housed the Arena Stage's rehearsal hall. Signature design features will be architectural staircases and a "matchbox" seating area. The dining area at Bobby Chef Bobby Flay has opened his burger restaurant namesake in DC, Bobby's Burger Palace. Ten signature burgers---including the Philadelphia Burger, the Buffalo Style Burger, the Dallas Burger and the Santa Fe Burger---are accompanied by such sides as hand-cut french fries served with BBP fry sauce and beer-battered onion rings. Chef Shuffle
With the departure of executive chef Daniel Giusti to work with Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, Clyde's Restaurant Group has appointed Anthony Lombardo as executive chef for 1789 Restaurant. Chef Lombardo most recently served as the executive sous chef at Casa Nonna in Washington, DC, a position he has held since August 2010 when he was hired to help open the new restaurant. 1789 Restaurant, 1226 36th St. NW, Washington, DC 20007, 202-965-1789.
