Another Founding Farmers Restaurant on the Books
One of the area's most environmentally aware eateries, Founding Farmers on Pennsylvania Avenue plans to expand its brand to Potomac by fall 2011. The 7,000-square-foot interior will seat about 200, with an outside dining area that can seat up to 40 people. CORE architecture + design has been contracted to design the restaurant, hopefully achieving LEED certification. Like its sister restaurants, the Park Potomac location will also be owned by a group of American family farmers plus local investors. Founding Farmers, IMF HQ2 building, 1924 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20006, 202-822-8783.

Beer’s the Word
With 140 different beers available at Robert Wiedmaier's Brasserie Beck, it's time for Wiedmaier's beer director, Thor Cheston, to introduce a new player among the bottles and 11 draft beers. That would be Antigoon Double Blond Ale, a result of Cheston's and Wiedmaier's sampling numerous brews. For those with a big beer appetite who may be overwhelmed or unconcerned by all these choices and decisions, Brasserie Beck also carries five "large format" bottles, including one that logs in at a whopping nine liters and costs $900. Brasserie Beck, 1101 K St. NW, Washington, DC 20005, 202-408-1717.
