Farmers Fishers Bakers, a new incarnation of Farmers & Fishers, has opened in Georgetown. The American menu features dishes such as boneless brick chicken with lemon thyme butter; grilled pork porterhouse with veggie succotash and corn pudding tamale; and sorghum syrup and ginger plank salmon. Soul Food, Soul Music
Café Saint-Ex is launching a series of monthly soul-food meals entitled "Pass the Peas." Named after James Brown's popular hit song, this series features both soul music and soul food, including such Southern fare as country fried steak, cornmeal-crusted catfish, and pork chops with candied yams. On the entertainment side, patrons will get to hear some tunes spun from Soul Call Paul, one of Saint-Ex's resident DJs. Café Saint-Ex's "Pass the Peas" soul food nights will take place on the second Wednesday of every month through February from 6 p.m. to close. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Central Michel Richard is offering "Go Pink" desserts and cocktails to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Pink Napoleon dessert ($8) presents puff pastry filled with raspberry pastry cream while the Blueberry Smash cocktail ($12) features muddled blueberries, blueberry vodka, lemon juice and sparkling wine. Seventy-percent of sales of the "Go Pink" menu items, during the month of October, will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
