Tavern 64 has opened at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston Town Center, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The restaurant places an emphasis on sourcing ingredients both locally and regionally, and in that spirit, the bar creates cocktails with liquors from distilleries like Purcellville, Virginia's Catoctin Creek Distilling Company; and, in honor of its location, the A. Smith Bowman Distillery founded in 1934 at the Sunset Hills Farm, which became part of the original property purchased by Robert E. Simon as he was building the "new town" of Reston (that distillery is now located in Fredericksburg, Virginia). Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner daily. Chef Stephen Starr has opened a French-based eatery along the 14th Street corridor called Le Diplomate. Look for brasserie meals enhanced by a specialty coffee program and an in-house bakery. Newton's Noodles is slated to debut in Dupont Circle this summer. This new concept is overseen by executive chef Dennis Friedman of Newton's Table in Bethesda. Fuzu, a customizable noodle dish that incorporates the diner's choice of proteins, vegetables, toppings, sauces and spice level, will be the focus. The Signature Fuzu incorporates shrimp, scallops, chicken, egg, carrots, snow peas, onions, bean sprouts, scallions, crispy shallots and black sesame. B Too has opened in Washington DC Chef-owner of Belga Cafe and recent Top Chef contestant Bart Vandaele has recently opened B Too in Logan Circe. Contemporary Belgian cuisine is served within a two-story space encompassing a main dining room, kitchen bar, chef's table, a private dining area, and a waffle and frites bar. Summer Specials at 1789 Restaurant
Georgetown's 1789 Restaurant is launching its annual summer specials to run through Sept. 13. These summertime treats are put together by executive chef Anthony Lombardo as a four-course tasting menu priced at $50 per person (beverages, tax and gratuity not included). Patrons can select two appetizers, one entrée from the featured seasonal menu, and a dessert. A three-course wine pairing is available for $20 to complement the dinner. Chef Shuffle
Local restaurateur Ashok Bajaj has announced the appointment of Matt Kuhn as executive chef of Ardeo+Bardeo. Kuhn has worked with Brian Moyers (The Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, New York) and Mike Lata at FIG in Charleston, SC.
