RESTAURANT NEWS

Openings

Good news, food truck fans. The owner and operator of the popular Hula Girl food truck is opening Hula Girl Bar & Grill, featuring the food truck’s classic Hawaiian fare. Dishes will include teriyaki, Spam musubi and poke, a traditional raw tuna dish with sesame and ginger. Also available will be Hawaiian cocktails and beers. The restaurant’s space will be whimsical, and will even welcome the family dog, who can join the family on the patio. Hula Girl Bar & Grill, Village at Shirlington, 4044 Campbell Ave., Arlington, VA 22206, no phone.

Matchbox Food Group has opened a new Matchbox in the One Loudoun development. What makes this outpost unique is that management has posted different lunch and dinner menus and has added appetizers such as the spicy tuna tartare tacos, and for dinner, a beet and burrata salad and a fish ‘n’ chips entrée. But not to worry, regulars: Matchbox favorites, like the mini burgers and signature pizzas, still hold a place on the menus. This is the company’s second Virginia location. Lunch & Dinner daily, Brunch Sat.-Sun. Matchbox, 44720 Thorndike St., Ashburn, VA 20147, 844-712-0369.

Rosslyn’s Secret Chopsticks specializes in authentic and healthful Chinese fare featuring locally sourced ingredients. Patrons can dine à la carte in the lounge area, or pick from four different nine-course prix-fixe tasting menus, each showcasing regional Chinese cuisine and with regularly changing selections. An eclectic wine menu highlights options from all over the world. Secret Chopsticks, 1850 Fort Myer Dr., Arlington, VA 22209, 703-812-8888.

Earls Kitchen + Bar has come to the busy Tysons Corner Center area. Featuring inventive food and drinks menus, the kitchen is under the watchful eye of executive chef Ryan Spicknell, who puts out house-made pastas, steaks and burgers, and then presents dishes with international flair: chicken curry, Korean bibimbap, and coriander-crusted albacore tuna with black jasmine rice. Like its siblings in this family-owned restaurant group, this location sources its ingredients locally. To add to its appeal, the owners have taken pains to use green building construction techniques that have resulted in a sophisticated and elegant dining room and lounge. Lunch & Dinner daily, Brunch Sat.-Sun. Earls Kitchen + Bar, 7902 Tysons One Pl., Tysons Corner, VA 22102, 703-847-1870.
