Openings

Located at the place de la Bastille, in front of the Opera Bastille, Café Français is the new restaurant run by Gilbert and Thierry Costes (group Beaumarly). It boasts two dining rooms decked out with marble and terrazzo, a bar that comes with a brass counter, a veranda and a plant-filled terrace. Jean-François Piège, executive chef of Thoumieux, conceives the menu, while Pascal Lognon Duval helms the stoves. French favorites are suggested, such as marinated salmon with radishes and cauliflower, spiced lobster raviolis, sirloin steak with pepper sauce, and a giant chocolate éclair. La Cour Jardin Remains Open through September
Before the closing of Hotel Plaza Athénée on October 1, La Cour Jardin remains the sole open restaurant of the property. Some classics of Le Relais Plaza have been added to the menu, such as blue lobster with coral vinaigrette and pasta shells with smoked ham and black truffle. Menus at €58 and €64. Chef Shuffle
Alain Ducasse will supervise the kitchens of Le Meurice hotel from September 2, 2013, onwards. As the Hotel Plaza Athénée, home of two restaurants over which he presides, will close its doors for refurbishment, he considers his new challenge as a means to perpetuate his French contemporary cuisine over there. The 70-persons brigade will be maintained, dispatched between the gastronomic Le Meurice, the brasserie Le Dali and Bar 228. The Hotel Plaza Athénée will close on October 1, 2013, due to massive renovation. Its reopening is scheduled for May 2014. The hotel's two restaurants, Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée and Le Relais Plaza, are already out of business. This closing intervenes just after the acquisition by the hotel of four adjoining buildings that will provide 14 additional rooms and suites and a conference room.
