In the Latin Quarter, chef Alain Dutournier presides over a second outpost of Pinxo, one of the most exciting openings this year. This location has the same concept and the same original dishes as the Pinxo in the 1st arrondissement. In a white room bedecked with modern paintings and an open kitchen, each course is presented in the form of three tapas, such as the piquillos and squid fricassée with small macaronis, and sautéed gambas with coco rice. Zinc Opera is a lively brasserie near the Palais Garnier Zinc Opera is a lively brasserie near the Palais Garnier. Expect a farm egg in spinach cream, a hearty Black Angus flank steak drenched in pepper sauce with french fries, and a creamy rice pudding. The menu is complemented by courses that change every day, such as bœuf bourguignon or lacquered salmon. Many wines by the glass are suggested and contribute to the friendly atmosphere. The Hotel Le Bristol has launched a new bar, Le Bar du Bristol, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon with plush furnishings: Italian stools, silk curtains, a marble fireplace and a mural fresco. The snacks menu from chef Eric Fréchon features king crab, chicken wings and gambas tempura to pair with original cocktails by Maxime Hoerth. Straw Vote at Harry's New York Bar
Harry's New York Bar is once again organizing a straw vote, a tradition since 1924, in honor of the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Every American citizen in Paris can go to Harry's and vote for one of the two candidates. The ballot is secured thanks to an ID control and votes are counted each week. The results have always been exact, except on two occasions, in 1976 and 2004. In addition, Harry's will launch a special party on Election Day, November 6, when two cocktails will be proposed bearing the name of each candidate. The "Fish and Chic" at Dessirier
An original version of the "Fish and Chips" dish by Michel Rostang appears on the menu of Dessirier. Settled in a crispy black bread with squid ink, the "Fish and Chic" includes mouthfuls of sea bass, sole, lobster and scampis coated with breadcrumbs along with green peas mousseline and mint and coriander sauce. Chef Shuffle
A new chef, the Japanese-born Toshitaka Omiya, rules the stoves of L'Agapé. This former disciple of David Toutain at Agapé Substance prizes variations on traditional recipes and peculiar textures. Try the poached foie gras with vegetables in a consommé or the Black Angus rib-eye with ceps and eggplants to experience his talent.
