The interior dining area of Bar Del Corso A glorious blue tile-covered, wood-burning pizza oven imported from Italy is the centerpiece of chef Jerry Corso's new pizzeria Bar Del Corso in the former Beacon Pub space. Featuring thin-crusted Neapolitan-style pizza and Italian dishes meant for sharing, it's become a neighborhood hot spot since opening mid-July. Local, seasonal, and traditional Italian ingredients go into every dish, while the bar menu features regional Italian wines, up to five local beers on tap, classic Italian cocktails, and a full bar. A veteran of top-flight restaurant kitchens on both East and West coasts, in Seattle, Corso helped open Crow, and worked at its sibling, Betty, along with Spinasse. Nathan Lockwood, the bistro chef at the swanky private club, The Ruins, plans to open his own restaurant this fall in Capitol Hill with his wife, Rebecca Lockwood. Named Altura, which means both "hill" and "deep sea" in Italian, the restaurant will serve seasonal Italian cuisine with an emphasis on locally-grown and foraged products. Chef Shuffle

Tomer Shneor has moved from Cantinetta in Bellevue to Belltown's Branzino, replacing talented chef Quinton Stewart, who is heading to Italy to travel and cook. Shneor also worked at the original Cantinetta in Wallingford, as well as at such luminary New York restaurants including Daniel and Felidia Ristorante. Ethan Stowell has hired Zach Chambers to be the new chef at Anchovies & Olives. Chambers, who has been at Stowell's modern Italian restaurant Tavolata in Belltown, is replacing Charles Walpole, who left to pursue his own project. Chambers holds a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, New York, and spent time at The American Academy in Rome. He also worked in the kitchen at New York's famed Gramercy Tavern.
