Seamus Mullen, the former chef at Boqueria, has opened Tertulia, a West Village restaurant focused on northern Spanish flavors and cider houses. As chef Mullen's first solo project, the restaurant will celebrate the simplicity of the chigre/sidreria (local cider house) and deliver tostas, sartenes (oven-grilled dishes in cast-iron skillets), tapas and platos familiars. As a word today meaning a gathering of friends with conversation, food and drinks, Tertuila's menu items include Tosta Setas (marinated mushrooms with smoke ricotta and pine nuts) to start and a Chuleton de Buey a la Brasa (40-day aged prime rib, charcoal-grilled, with Romesco sauce, piperrada and fingerling potatoes) as an entrée. Dinner service is available Monday through Saturday. Tertulia, 359 Sixth Ave., New York, NY 10014, 646-559-9909. ![]() |
