Openings

Located in the bi-level space that recently housed Ruby Fruit Lounge in the West Village, Swine serves up hearty fare --- and yes, a lot of pork. The menu was designed by Phil Conlon of Café Cluny. Swine, 531 Hudson St., New York, NY 10014, 212-255-7675.
 
Courgette, located on the ground floor of the Dream New York hotel, serves up Mediterranean fare. There's also a raw bar. Courgette, 204 W. 55th St., New York, NY 10019, 212-333-3999.
 
Extra Place is a new casual eatery named for the relatively obscure and tiny street near Bowery and E. 1st St. The restaurant serves German and Turkish-inspired fare. Extra Place, 8 Extra Pl., New York, NY 10003, 212-777-4252.
 
New Williamsburg restaurant Bia Bar & Grill offers a menu of Vietnamese staples and a better-than-average beer selection ("bia" means "beer" in Vietnamese). Bia Bar & Grill, 67 S. 6th St., Williamsburg, NY 11211, 718-388-0908.
 
Governor, with its waterfront views and DUMBO location, is from the people behind Colonie and Gran Electrica. The seasonal menu leans toward the adventurous, and includes grilled pig heart in aspic. Governor, 15 Main St., Brooklyn, NY 11201, 718-858-4756.
 
Pierre Rougey, formerly an instructor at the French Culinary Institute, is the top toque at Prandial, a French-American restaurant with an industrial décor in the Flatiron District. Prandial, 31 W. 21st St., New York, NY 10010, 212-510-8722.
 


News Bytes
Michael White's Empire Expands
Michael White's army of restaurants is about to expand. The chef, who runs Osteria Morini, Ai Fiori, Marea and Nicoletta in New York City, has just signed a lease on the old Centolire space on the Upper East Side. He also plans to open a wine-centric small-plates restaurant in the same neighborhood.
 
Midwestern Flavors Delivered in the East Village
Nicoletta, chef Michael White's homage to Midwestern pizza and ingredients, now offers delivery service from its East Village location from 5 p.m. to midnight. Nicoletta, 160 Second Ave., New York, NY 10003, 212-432-1600.
 
No Prix Ride
NoMad has nixed its $125, seven-course prix-fixe tasting menu. Now diners can only order à la carte, which was always an option. NoMad, The NoMad Hotel, 1170 Broadway, New York, NY 10001, 347-472-5660.
 

Chef Shuffle

Closings

Pino Luongo's Centolire has closed for good. Centolire, 1167 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10028, no phone.
 
The Beagle, an East Village gastropub-like eatery on Ave. A and E. 11th St., has shut down for renovations. It'll reopen, though, in August.
 
Imperial No. Nine in the Mondrian SoHo has closed. It has been replaced by an Italian restaurant called Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar. Imperial No. Nine, Mondrian SoHo, 9 Crosby St., New York, NY 10013, no phone.
