Watch your pocketbook the next time you visit Momofuku Ko! The prix fixe restaurant hiked prices by 25 percent, to $125 for dinner and $175 for lunch. The reasoning? To cook with a “wider variety” of ingredients, naturally. Momofuku Ko, 163 First Ave., New York, NY 10003, No phone.
Marco Canora and Paul Grieco will leave Insieme, their Italian restaurant in the Theater District, to focus on Terroir and Hearth in the East Village. The Michelangelo hotel will now operate the restaurant, which is adjacent to their lobby, with chef Bryan Hunt retaining his position there. Insieme, The Michelangelo, 777 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10019, 212-582-1310.
Bar Pleiades will open in The Surrey hotel, in the space occupied by Café Boulud's bar. Café Boulud, Surrey Hotel, 20 E. 76th St., New York, NY 10021, 212-772-2600.
Sam Mason, chef and co-owner of Tailor is hosting Dinner with the Band on IFC. Tailor recently declared bankruptcy and lost cocktail maven Eben Freeman, so diversifying a bit seems wise for Mason. Tailor, 525 Broome St., New York, NY 10013, 212-334-5182.
Danny Meyer's next project will be a Shake Shack Nolita, on the corner of Mulberry and Prince street. No timeline has been announced for an opening, as of yet. Shake Shack, Madison Square Park, New York, NY 10010, 212-889-6600.
The owners of Tavern on the Green announced that they are bankrupt. The restaurant will change hands at year's end, but bankruptcy proceedings will continue in the meantime. Tavern on the Green, Central Park W., New York, NY 10023, 212-873-3200.
Michel Bras, the famed French chef, is coming to town for two nights starting September 12. Look for the toque to appear at panels at the French Institute Alliance Francaise with David Chang, Wylie Dufresne and more.
Dean Poll will be the new operator of Tavern on the Green. The city awarded him a 20-year contract over competitors Danny Meyer and Crescent City natives the Brennans. The LeRoy family will continue to operate the Tavern until the end of the year. Tavern on the Green, Central Park W., New York, NY 10023, 212-873-3200.
