In the Hotel Gansevoort space that recently housed Tanuki Tavern comes Toy, an Asian restaurant that also includes an oyster bar. Jeffrey Beers designed the space. Toy, Hotel Gansevoort, 18 Ninth Ave., New York, NY 10014, 212-203-5422.
Richard Sandoval's Raymi has just opened. The Peruvian-accented restaurant will feature, naturally, ceviches and plenty of grilled, skewered meat, as well as dishes such as bacon-wrapped tenderloin with Andean style potatoes, roasted peanuts and criolla. Barrel-Aged GoodnessTwo E Bar / Lounge, the classic cocktail bar connected to The Pierre, has some exciting new cocktails on offer: concoctions made with barrel-aged rum and rye, among others. The Aged Beauty, vanilla-infused rum and rhubarb syrup, is a particular favorite. Two E Bar / Lounge, The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York, 2 E. 61st St., New York, NY 10065, 212-838-8000.
Chef Andrew Carmellini will be adding a restaurant to his empire --- a French eatery in the NoHo space just deserted by Chinatown Brasserie. No word yet on when it will open.
Jean-Georges Vongerichten is expanding the ABC franchise and going Spanish. He plans to open ABC Cocina nearby his hit eatery ABC Kitchen in New York. There's no word if ABC Kitchen's chef Dan Kluger will oversee the kitchen. The restaurant will open in November. ABC Kitchen, ABC Carpet & Home, 35 E. 18th St. , New York, NY 10003, 212-475-5829.
