Openings

In the Hotel Gansevoort space that recently housed Tanuki Tavern comes Toy, an Asian restaurant that also includes an oyster bar. Jeffrey Beers designed the space. Toy, Hotel Gansevoort, 18 Ninth Ave., New York, NY 10014, 212-203-5422.

Richard Sandoval's Raymi has just opened. The Peruvian-accented restaurant will feature, naturally, ceviches and plenty of grilled, skewered meat, as well as dishes such as bacon-wrapped tenderloin with Andean style potatoes, roasted peanuts and criolla. There are also a number of cocktails made with Pisco, including Pisco Sours in flavors like gooseberry. Raymi, 43 W. 24th St., New York, NY 10010, 212-929-1200.

Desi Galli is a casual spot emphasizing Indian street food. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. Desi Galli, 101 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10016, 212-683-2292.

High Heat, a Greenwich Village burger and pizza joint, is casual spot that serves beer and wine and customers order at the counter. High Heat, 154 Bleecker St., New York, NY 10012, 212-300-4446.

The Goodwin, a new wine bar and restaurant in the West Village, serves up seasonal American fare by Bouley alum Colin Kruzic. The Goodwin, 430 Hudson St., New York, NY 10014, 212-929-6181.

Michael White's heavily anticipated pizzeria, Nicoletta, has opened in the East Village. The restaurant is, in a way, an homage to the chef's Midwestern roots, using an ample amount of ingredients --- especially cheese --- from his native Wisconsin. Roberta's, the Italian eatery in Bushwick, Brooklyn, has just opened Blanca, a 12-seat restaurant offering a fixed-price, multi-course dinner. Blanca is located in the back of Roberta's and is only open four nights a week, on those nights that chef Carlo Mirarchi is in the kitchen. The fixed-price meal is $180 without wine. Zutto, a longtime Japanese restaurant in TriBeCa, has switched concepts and reopened with a new focus: it's now an American-style pub with a Japanese accent. There's still sushi on the menu, but the izakaya serves up hearty fare like ramen and pork-crammed buns, among other traditional fare. Zutto, 77 Hudson St., New York, NY 10013, 212-233-3287.

Barrel-Aged Goodness
Two E Bar / Lounge, the classic cocktail bar connected to The Pierre, has some exciting new cocktails on offer: concoctions made with barrel-aged rum and rye, among others. Carmellini to NoHo
Chef Andrew Carmellini will be adding a restaurant to his empire --- a French eatery in the NoHo space just deserted by Chinatown Brasserie. No word yet on when it will open.

More ABCs for Jean-Georges
Jean-Georges Vongerichten is expanding the ABC franchise and going Spanish. He plans to open ABC Cocina nearby his hit eatery ABC Kitchen in New York. There's no word if ABC Kitchen's chef Dan Kluger will oversee the kitchen. The restaurant will open in November. ABC Kitchen, ABC Carpet & Home, 35 E. 18th St. , New York, NY 10003, 212-475-5829.

Chumley's Resurrected
Chumley's, the historic (and former) speakeasy pub in the West Village that shut down five years ago for infrastructure reasons, is about to reopen --- stay tuned. Chumley's, 86 Bedford St., New York, NY 10014, 212-675-4449.

Chef Shuffle

Dan Ross-Leutwyler, formerly of Fatty 'Cue, is the new chef at Bellwether in Williamsburg. Bellwether, 594 Union Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11211, 347-529-4921.

Seamus Mullen (Tertulia) will be the chef and menu creator of the new seasonal outdoor restaurant at The Standard New York. The menu, naturally, will focus on the cuisine of Spain. The Standard New York, 848 Washington St., New York, NY 10014, 212-645-4100.

New Financial District restaurant and bar Demi Monde has already lost its chef, Phillip Kirschen-Clark. No word yet on his replacement. Demi Monde, 90 Broad St., New York, NY 10004, 212-248-7220.

Closings

Todd English's gastropub, Crossbar, located in the Limelight Marketplace in Chelsea, has shut down.

After months of rumors and speculation, Chinatown Brasserie has served its last dim sum. Chinatown Brasserie, 380 Lafayette St., New York, NY 10003, no phone.

Taavo Somer's Isa has gone on hiatus. The Williamsburg restaurant will reopen soon with an entirely new concept. Isa, 348 Wythe St., Brooklyn, NY 11249, no phone.

Hung Ry, the once-promising hand-pulled noodle spot on Bond Street, has shut down for good. Hung Ry, 55 Bond St., New York, NY 10012, no phone.

Le Caprice at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York has closed. Le Cirque owner Sirio Maccioni will take over the space and turn it into an outpost of his Las Vegas eatery Sirio Ristorante, slated to open in late fall 2012.
