Chef James Trees and LEV Group Development Partner Carlo Cannuscio have announced the opening of Al Solito Posto (“At The Usual Place”), offering a menu with a fresh take on Italian favorites such as minestrone, eggplant parmigiana, chicken piccata and house-made pastas featuring linguine & clams, cacio e pepe and pappardelle Bolognese. Trees, who also owns and operates the popular Esther’s Kitchen in the Downtown Arts District, said, “In creating Al Solito Posto, we wanted to take the opportunity to look at Italian food, and really the whole neighborhood restaurant experience, in a truly new way.” Highlights of the sophisticated bar menu include a clarified milk punch, fig-infused Old Fashioned twist, Italian-inflected Apple Martini and a cellar dominated by Italian wines. The restaurant and lounge is situated in the former space of Brio facing the fountains at the main entrance to Tivoli Village. Al Solito Posto, Tivoli Village, 420 S. After the shutdown last March and gradual re-openings in May, only three Vegas casino buffets managed to reopen: The Buffet at Wynn, Wicked Spoon at The Cosmopolitan and the Garden Buffet at Southpoint, all with new formats and restrictions. Abandoned was the self-serve arrangement and all three regrouped to offer staff-served presentations. The Buffet at Wynn bowed out in early September and now Wicked Spoon has announced it will “temporary cease operations” effective January 10. With the closure of Wicked Spoon, the only Las Vegas casino buffet still operating will be the Garden Buffet in South Point, which continues to be open daily with buffet items served by staff. Wicked Spoon, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. S., Las Vegas, NV 89109, 702-698-7000.
