The Firkin Pub & Grille has opened at the intersection of Paradise and Harmon. The English pub is a game bar, beer tavern and family-friendly pub all rolled into one. The décor features large windows providing an abundance of natural lighting, red velour booths and a long black oak wood bar, where 42 tap handles pour an array of craft beer, with an additional 32 bottled beer choices also available. The food menu lists pub fare such as sandwiches, salads, appetizers, pizza, wings and burgers; there are also traditional dishes like fish and chips, classic Scotch eggs, Guinness steak and mushroom pie, and bangers and beans. Allegro has opened at Wynn Las Vegas Allegro, an Italian eatery helmed by Naples native executive chef Enzo Febbraro, has opened at Wynn Las Vegas. The menu is an extension of chef Febbraro’s rustic, at-home cooking style. Specialties include baked lasagna Napoletana, featuring meat ragu, meatballs and smoked mozzarella; ossobuco D’agnello, made with a bone-in lamb shank; 14-ounce breaded veal chop Parmigiano; and risotto pescatora with shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels and clams. Caesars Palace closed its decadent Bacchanal gourmet room in 2000, and brought it back in September in the form of the Bacchanal Buffet. A total of $17 million was put into the modern and international design, with the 25,000-square-foot dining space offering a view of the Garden of the Gods pool complex and seating for up to 600 guests. The over-the-top feast, created by a team of master chefs led by executive chef Scott Green, features nine globally inspired open kitchens and more than 500 items, including made-to-order omelets; fresh crab, oysters and prawns; roasted prime rib; red velvet pancakes; wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas; dim sum; sushi and sashimi. Progressive presentations feature individually plated items, small plates, numerous cooking stations and an extensive dessert display. The buffet is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Prices are $19.99 for breakfast, $24.99 for lunch and $39.99 for dinner. Guy Savoy Guest Judges on "MasterChef"

Serendipity 3’s Seasonal Garden First of its Kind on the Strip
Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace has instituted the first seasonal garden on the Strip, which is allowing executive chef Michael Wolf to incorporate homegrown produce into menu dishes and cocktails. The garden currently includes sunflowers, tomatoes, artichokes, Japanese eggplant, bell peppers, rosemary, basil, cilantro, chives, mint, shallots, dill, marjoram, oregano, tarragon, anise, coriander and garlic. California Pizza Kitchen Launches New Adventures Menu
California Pizza Kitchen has launched its New Adventures Menu, which spotlights items other than its signature pizzas. The new dishes include fire-roasted chile relleno stuffed with chicken, queso quesadilla cheese and roasted corn and black bean salsa; Norwegian Atlantic cedar plank salmon with corn succotash; grilled marinated chicken chimichurri; quinoa and arugula salad topped with feta; and shrimp scampi zucchini fettuccine sautéed with lemon, garlic and white wine. The Range Steakhouse Launches New “$7 Before 7 p.m.” Menu
The Range Steakhouse at Harrah's Las Vegas has introduced a new menu of cocktails and appetizers for $7. Served nightly from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. in the lounge, the menu includes all draft and bottled beers, well cocktails and glasses of wine, and menu items such as beef satay with a ginger and citrus soy drizzle and duck spring rolls with orange and peanut sauce. Pierre Gagnaire Cooking at Twist
Pierre Gagnaire will be in the kitchen at Twist by Pierre Gagnaire at Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas from August 27 through September 6. With newly appointed chef de cuisine, Ryuki Kawasaki, he will prepare multi-course menus featuring entrées such as Dover sole with champagne sauce; sliced duck breast with cassis bigarade and marguerite potato; and grilled miso pork with ginger prawn, seared pineapple and yuzu vegetables “mariniere.” The cost is $85 for the three-course menu, $125 for the five-course menu and $175 for the seven-course menu. Seablue at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, which had been open since October of 2003, closed its doors August 6. The space will be redesigned as another Michael Mina restaurant, with details to be released later. The Mina Group announced that its Seablue in Atlantic City will not be affected, and will remain open for business. Mina’s other Las Vegas restaurants --- American Fish at ARIA, Michael Mina Bellagio, Nobhill Tavern at MGM Grand and StripSteak at Mandalay Bay --- also will remain open.
